Phonics
At Mylor Bridge School, Early reading is taught through a systematic synthetic phonics programme called 'Twinkl Phonics', which has been developed and validated alongside the DfE.
Reading
Alongside the teaching of phonics, it is also important to develop reading fluency and comprehension. As well as a wide range of activities and opportunities we offer in school, we also have a fantastic reading book scheme in place with engaging content and guidance for parents to support their child's reading both before and after reading the text. The books are written with our phonics progression in mind so we are able to ensure children are reading books perfectly matched to their phonic knowledge.
Below is a collection of information, outlining how phonics and early reading is taught and developed in our school.
